This program trains individuals in the skills needed for residential construction. Areas of study include framing and finish carpentry, roofing, siding, drywall, cabinetmaking and trim. Residential plumbing focuses on installation of supplies, drain, waste and vent systems and fixture installation. Student training in masonry includes brick and block laying with emphasis on trowel techniques, layout, patterns and bonds typical of residential building construction. Residential wiring includes code requirements, circuit design and installation of fixtures. Advanced electricity includes basic electronics, electric motors, magnetic starters, logic circuits and programmable logic controllers. Students in the Construction/Building Technology program completely construct a three-bedroom home on-site at the Huron Area Technical Center each year.
